^aEarly harvest corn silage harvested at whole-plant DM = 37.3% DM and kernel milk = ¾ harvested on September, 4, 2014. Late harvest corn silage harvested at whole-plant DM = 42.7% DM and kernel black layer formation harvested on September 16, 2014.

^bDM was calculated using weekly (n = 19) samples and oven dried for 48 h at 60 °C. Coefficient of variation was 3.2 for early harvest and 3.9 for late harvest based on weekly DM samples.
