Table 2.
Age specific incidence rate (ASIR) of kidney disease diagnosed among bodybuilders in Kurdistan of Iraq in the 9 year period from January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2019
| Diagnosis | Biopsies 9.0 yrs | Annual average | Pop at risk | ASIR | 95% CI | ASIR by suppl | 95% CI by suppl |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| FSGS | 2 | .22 | 25,000 | 0.9 | −0.3 to 2.1 | 3.4 | −1.3 to 8.1 |
| MGN | 2 | .22 | 25,000 | 0.9 | −0.3 to 2.1 | ||
| PIGN | 1 | .11 | 25,000 | 0.4 | −0.4 to 1.3 | ||
| TIN | 1 | .11 | 25,000 | 0.4 | −0.4 to 1.3 | ||
| ATN | 7 | .78 | 56,000 | 1.4 | 0.4 to 2.4 | ||
| nephrocalcinosis | 2 | .22 | 25,000 | 0.9 | −0.3 to 2.1 | 33.8 | −13.0 to 80.6 |
ASIR was calculated per 100,000 body builders for all diagnoses and adjusted by specific supplement use for FSGS (anabolic steroids, 26%) and nephrocalcinosis (injected vitamin D, 2.6%). The population at risk for bodybuilders was considered to be regular participants at 25,000 except for ATN in which the population at risk was considered to be all participants at 56,000
