MDA-MB-231-derived ECM promoted a slight decrease in E-cadherin expression in MCF-7 cells in 48 h. MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cells were cultured in standard conditions for 48 h, and decellularized ECMs were obtained, as described in Methods. MCF-7 cells were cultured onto MDA-ECM or onto their own matrix with TGF-β1 (10 ng/mL) for 48 h. (A) Cell morphology was analyzed, and representative images were obtained at 40× magnification. A black asterisk indicates lost or remaining intercellular connections.
