Scales ranged from 0–10, with 0 being strongly disagree and 10 being strongly agree. Asterisks indicate those variables for which the overall F statistic was significant at p<0.05. Differences among the adjusted means for all groups were compared using an ANCOVA and Fisher’s LSD procedure was used to conduct pairwise comparisons for variables with a significant group effect. Each analysis controlled for having a religious affiliation, while age served as a covariate for cocaine legalization and recreational marijuana decriminalization analyses, heroin and cocaine legalization analyses controlled for income, and analyses involving legalization of medical and recreational marijuana, and decriminalization of recreational marijuana controlled for political affiliation. Categories within a column that do not share a common superscript were significantly different (p< 0.05). SEE= Standard error of the estimate
