Ference et al.7 used Mendelian randomization for estimating the (positive) causal effect of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) on the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD). They estimated that for each mmol/L lower LDL-C, the risk of CHD is reduced by 54.5% (95% CI (48.8%, 59.5%)).
