The symbols represent the data and the lines represent a linear fit to the data for up to 20% strain. In the absence of beads, we do not observe compression stiffening. In the presence of 14% packing percentage of adherent beads, we do observe compressional stiffening around γc ≈ 30%. Error bars denote standard deviation.
