Shikonin stimulates fatty acid oxidation. (A) Hepa 1-6 cells were incubated with shikonin for 24 h, and fatty acid oxidation was measured as described in the experimental section. (B) Hepa 1-6 cells were pretreated with 100 μM oleic acid and then incubated with shikonin for 24 h. Relative mRNA expression levels of fatty acid oxidation related genes were measured by quantitative real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR).
