The lack of dnmA or fisA causes severe defects in sexual development. Strains TRV1 (WT), CVG1 (ΔdnmA), CVG2 (ΔfisA), and CVG3 (ΔdnmA ΔfisA) were induced to undergo sexual development as previously reported (Kawasaki et al., 2002).
