Two of more of the of the following:

• Body temperature <36°C or >38°C

• Heart rate >90

• Respiratory rate >20

• White blood cells <4000/mm or >12 000/mm or >10% bands over 24 hours.

SIRS criteria based on the American College of Chest Physicians and Society of Critical Care Medicine definition form 1992[13].
