Evaluation of DOM (2 mg liter⁻¹) and low concentrations of Hg(II) (1 nM) and OB3b-methanobactin (MB, 1 or 10 μM) on methylmercury (MeHg) production by washed cells of D. desulfuricans ND132 (10⁸ cells ml⁻¹) in PBS. Hg(II) was preequilibrated with MB for 30 min prior to the addition of ND132 cells. Error bars represent the deviation between the two replicate samples (X1 and X2), defined as the absolute value of (X1 − X2)/2.
