Evaluation of biliary proliferation. Proliferation was determined by staining for proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) in all groups. Similar to intrahepatic bile duct mass (IBDM), large biliary proliferation (arrows) increased in multidrug-resistance transporter 2/ABC transporter B family member 2 knockout (Mdr2^−/−) mice treated with mismatch compared with wild-type (WT) mice, and this was significantly reduced in Mdr2^−/− mice treated with histamine-2 receptor (H2HR) vivo-morpholino. Staining was semiquantified using a light microscope.
