Until effective measures are available to prevent both patients and healthcare professionals from getting COVID-19 infections, clinical services must find innovative ways of delivering individualised healthcare. Widespread availability of the Internet, through mobile phones and home computers, enables remote (in terms of distance) follow-up of patients for the assessment of symptoms, heart rate and rhythm, blood pressure and weight. This could make most clinic visits unnecessary. Development of technologies or strategies that enable blood tests to be done without the patient coming to a clinic will further reduce the need for conventional clinics.
