Cells were transformed with plasmids producing the control bait, which consists of a single transmembrane domain derived from residues 2 to 55 of Pseudomonas aeruginosa PBP1b fused to PopZ-H3H4-GFP (pEMF55) (A) or PopZ-H3H4-GFP-YejM (pEMF35) (B to D). Note that the control bait construct also expresses unlabeled yejM in order to reduce LapB toxicity.
