Benign patches were sampled from cancer-containing slides outside of annotated cancer regions to avoid model overfitting on artifactual differences between digitized slides.
Gleason score slide totals exceed the total number of slides with prostate adenocarcinoma because a given slide may contain multiple regions with different Gleason scores.
