Combined surgical-rehabilitation care continuum. Surgical prehabilitation typically begins at least a couple of weeks before surgery. Early recovery programs are implemented during the perioperative period (48–72 hrs just before, during, and after surgery), which often include physical therapy referrals for early mobilization.
