Blockchain example. Multiple transactions (such as transfers of money) take place. Each transaction is hashed. Hash values are combined into a hash tree. The hash tree, hash of the previous block, and a timestamp are inserted into the new block. Nonces are used in this example as a proof-of-work consensus mechanism as part of a mathematical challenge. When a solution is found to the challenge, the new block is added to the blockchain
