Older patients had higher risk of death at any time point (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR], 1.25; 95% CI, 1.14–1.36). Number at risk indicates the number of patients alive at each time point. B, Readmission curves. Patients were censored at the time of death (as they were no longer eligible for readmission) or at 1 yr. Median time to readmission for older patients was 35 d versus 154 d for younger patients. Older patients had a higher risk of readmission throughout the first year (aHR, 1.19; 95% CI, 1.09–1.29).
