Each of these time slices corresponds to a different characteristic deformation: (a) near initial configuration; (b) early deformation; (c) largest deformation; and (d) right before the structure enters another period of oscillation. Note that the Eulerian velocity field u(x, t) corresponds to the velocity of whichever material is located at position x; it describes the velocity of the fluid as well as the structure. The color corresponds to the magnitude of the velocity at each spatial point x.
