The background color indicates confinement (cyan), persistent migration (gray), and artifactual lamellipodium detachment (light red). Larger λF–actin and smaller ϕl increase cell motility. When λF–actin is too small, the lamellipodium remains symmetrical and the cell does not migrate, whereas for very small ϕl, the lamellipodium is not strong enough to drive cell migration (data not shown).
