Pulsed calcium stimulation for cerebellar PF-PC synapses. Calcium influx rates (top, ϕ(t) in Eq. 23) are used as input to our bidirectional synaptic plasticity model to generate the desired output of calcium spikes (bottom, [Ca] in Eq. 23). These match previously published simulation data by Kuroda et al.11 (dashed), based on experimental data by Wang et al.10, which represent stimulations of PF alone (A), pulse amplitude of 1.8 μM) and paired PF and CF (B), pulse amplitude of 10 μM). Both calcium stimulations are applied at 1 Hz for 300 s.
