Detection of apoptotic protein expression changes in Cordyceps militaris–treated A549 via immunoblotting and quantification of protein expression. Cordyceps militaris induces alternation of apoptotic protein expression in non–small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) cells. The NSCLC cell lines were exposed to 0, 100, 500, and 1000 µg/mL C militaris extract for 48 hours before whole-cell protein lysates were harvested and prepared for western blot analysis using Bak, Bcl-2, Bcl-xL, cleaved caspase-9 and caspase-3. Data were normalized to controls and represent the mean ± SD for 3 independent experiments (*P < .05, **P < .01; ***P < .001; ns, nonsignificance).
