Overview of data collection process. Data were collected from the guidelines panels convened by the American Society of Hematology (ASH) to develop guidelines for the management of the following conditions: (1) prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in surgical hospitalized patients, (2) prevention of VTE in medical patients, (3) heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT), (4) management of thrombophilia, (5) VTE in the context of pregnancy, (6) VTE in pediatric populations, (7) optimal management of anticoagulation therapy, (8) VTE in patients with cancer, (9) treatment of VTE, and (10) management of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). Unfortunately, data collection from two panels was not recorded due to technical glitches. The final analysis included data from 8 panels (see text).
