The forest plot of whole grains intake and colorectal risk. As shown in Fig. 3, eighteen studies were included in the analysis of whole grains intake and colorectal cancer risk. The result showed that whole grains consumption reduced the risk of colorectal cancer by 11% (RR = 0.89, 95% CI: 0.84–0.93, P < 0.001), with a slight heterogeneity (I2 = 38.2%, P = 0.029)
