Aldosterone and corticosterone define residual mineralocorticoid production and are marked in blue. Red and blue arrows mark the enzymatic reactions for activation of cortisol and aldosterone, respectively. Cortisone is both a metabolite and precursor of cortisol and is marked in yellow.
