The protein expression of caspase 1 and IL1β in cocaine self-administered and control mice. Brain tissues containing the striatum or mPFc from mice with cocaine self-administration (n = 6) or control animals (n = 4) were analyzed for the expression of the inflammatory proteins Caspl and IL1β. (A) Both pro-Casp1 and mature Casp1 isoforms were upregulated in the striatum but not in the mPFc in the mice with cocaine self-administration. (B) The expression of mature IL-1β was significantly increased in the striatum but not in the mPFc in mice with cocaine self-administration.
