Scheme of the experimental protocol for preconditioning and induction of heat stroke model. HS group rats were placed in a pre-warmed incubator that was maintained at (40 ± 0.5)°C and a relative humidity of (60 ± 5)% in the absence of food and water. When the rectal temperature was reached 42°C, rats were cooled at an temperature of (25 ± 0.5)°C and a humidity of (35 ± 5)% for temperature recovery. After 24 h, lungs were harvested for further examination.
