WJ-39 treatment ameliorated streptozotocin- (STZ-) induced renal inflammation in diabetic nephropathy (DN) rats. (a–c) Protein levels of interleukin-1beta (IL-1β), IL-6, IL-18, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), p50 in the nucleus and cytosol, p65 in the nucleus and cytosol, cleaved caspase-1, ASC, and NLRP3 and ratios of phosphorylated protein/total protein (p-p38/p38, p-ERK/ERK) in renal cortex tissues were detected by western blotting and quantified. Data are represented as the mean ± standard error of the mean (SEM), n = 6. ##p < 0.01 and ###p < 0.001 vs. the control group; p < 0.05, ∗∗p < 0.01, and ∗∗∗p < 0.001 vs. the STZ group. ERK: extracellular signal-related kinase; ASC: apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a caspase recruitment domain; NLRP3: nucleotide-binding and oligomerization domain-like receptor family pyrin domain-containing 3.
