a

Prevalence estimates are based on data from 1 854 490 2‐ to 11‐year‐olds in the longitudinal cohort. For each age group and year combination, one BMI value was selected at random from these children resulting in 3 472 219 BMI values. Obesity is defined as a BMI ≥ 95th percentile in the CDC growth charts.17
