Two to 5 animals were used in each group.

WT wild-type, SGCD+/− δ-SG gene heterozygous knockout pig, SGCD/− δ-SG gene homozygous knockout pig, LVDd left ventricular diastolic dimension, LVDs left ventricular systolic dimension, IVSth interventricular septum thickness, PWth left ventricular posterior wall thickness, LVEF left ventricular ejection fraction.

*Values in the SGCD/− group significantly differ from those in the WT and SGCD+/− groups at 9 weeks (LVEF: P < 0.001).
