Impact of release kinetics on drug disposition. Upper panel: Rapid release from the RBC will lead to dose dumping in plasma and separate elimination of the drug and RBC. Lower panel: Slow release of the drug will lead to some of the drug being released in plasma and some being taken up into clearance organs (e.g., spleen, depicted) with the RBC.
