Effects of 10-week treadmill walking exercise training on body composition and physical fitness. (A) Amount of lean body mass (kg) measured using dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) was higher at 3-month follow-up (3-mo) compared to pre-exercise training. (B) Body fat percentage (%) measured using DEXA was lower at 3-month follow-up compared to post-exercise training. (C) Participants were able to perform a higher exercise workload (kcal/session) at their last exercise session compared to the first. Total amount of workload performed was estimated using standardized equations (49). (D) No change was noted for cardiorespiratory fitness measured as peak rate of oxygen uptake during a graded maximal exercise test [VO2peak = ml min−1 kgofleanmass(LM)-1].
