Notes: The variables introduced in the model were gender and age, unmodifiable characteristics in the subjects, and OPN and BMP-2, parameters with a local effect on the atherosclerotic plaque. The effect of OPN and BMP-2 on CAC > 0 was independent of age and gender since these variables were excluded from the statistical model.
