The Δ6-desaturase aerobic long-chain (≥ C20) polyunsaturated fatty acid synthesis pathways. Desaturases are denoted by ‘des’ and elongases by ‘elo’. The ω6 pathway runs in parallel with the ω3 pathway with fatty acids converted across by the action of an ω3-desaturase.
