Temperature response model of Borrelia burgdorferi. An environmental signal activates Hk2 membrane protein that phosphorylates and activates Rrp2. Together with RNP and σ54, they facilitate transcription of rpoS. The mRNA is stabilized by the joint action of DsrABb (expressed upon temperature increase to host conditions) and Hfq, and the messenger is translated into protein.
