For an MC simulation with µa = 0.05 cm−1, µs’ = 6.00 cm−1, and a source-detector separation of 1.8 cm, (a) the corresponding spatial sensitivity maps for standard DCS and AOM-DCS. Averaging the percent difference in the X direction between the two maps gives the results seen in (b), which indicates that AOM-DCS is less sensitive to changes in the more superficial layers and more sensitive to changes in the deeper layers than is standard DCS. The errorbars represent the standard deviation of the percent difference along the X direction.
