Genomic DNA and total RNA samples individually extracted from three pairs of male and female pupae were used as the templates to PCR-amplify GUW1 with the primers GUW1-118-F and GUW1-118-R (Supplementary Table S2) and RT-PCR-amplify Hadsx transcripts with the primers Hadsx-F and Hadsx-R (Supplementary Table S2), respectively.
