Short-term inhibition of autophagy alters total mass of phospholipids and ether lipids in mouse β-cells more than sphingolipids or neutral lipids. Mice were dieted and treated with tamoxifen for 3 weeks as indicated in the legend to Figure 1. Islets were isolated and total cellular lipids extracted and quantified by MS. Data are means ± SEM of 5–7 independent values. Masses of total species of (A) NLs, (B) SLs, (E) PLs or (F) ether lipids were summed, and expressed relative to the corresponding chow control. Mass of major species of (C) ceramide or (D) MHC per mg of cellular protein are shown.
