MS2 log10 removal by MWCNT as a function of DOC initial concentration of SRNOM. The red circles correspond to the batch experiment performed with SRNOM as co-solute and a mass of MWCNT of 15 mg, and is re-plotted from Fig. 5A. These results are used as reference to the batch experiments in which we pre-adsorbed SRNOM to the MWCNT for 3 h (in the absence of MS2), followed by addition of MS2 and a second period of equilibration for 3 h (orange diamonds). Both batch experiments were performed in duplicate at pH 7.7, at a MWCNT mass of 15 mg and at an initial MS2 concentration of 106 PFU/mL. Error bars represent laboratory precision calculated using a pooled standard deviation, or weighted average of standard deviations calculated for all groups of samples, from the sets of duplicate samples.
