Boxplots of the lipid lateral diffusion coefficients obtained via FRAP. (A) Comparison of DOPC vesicles produced by OLA and electroformation with varying concentrations of encapsulated P-188. The lateral diffusion coefficients are on the order of 1 μm2/s for all investigated systems, irrespective of the production method or the presence of P-188. (B) Lipid lateral diffusion coefficients of electroformed DOPC vesicles at varying temperatures and glycerol concentrations. We found a significant (p < 0.001) increase in lateral diffusion with rising temperature and decreasing glycerol concentration, compared to the base line at room temperature (approx. 20 °C) and 15% glycerol.
