Points corresponding to Sham (black circles), IZ (gray circles), and BZ (empty circles and triangle) were obtained from the F₀F₁-ATPase data presented in Figure 6 and the paired data of O₂ consumption coupled to ATP synthesis. Correlations were analyzed only with the use of Sham and BZ data. The IZ values, included for the illustration in the figure, were not used in the correlations because O₂ consumption coupled to ATP synthesis did not differ from zero. The r and P values calculated by the least square method as indicated within each panel.
