The compositional changes in community structure over time were only significantly different for the no-sugar diet (A, B), compared to the high-sugar diet (C, D) (see also alpha diversity plots in Fig. 3). The data are aggregated across three replicates in each condition and the shaded area represents 95% confidence interval for the line of best fit. This suggests that the microbiome of the two media evolved differently, despite producing similar phenotypic results (Fig. 2).
