Replication of DUB-deficient HSV1 in organotypic brain slices. Organotypic slices from WT mice brain were cultured in semiporous membrane inserts and infected with HSV1 (WT) or HSV1 ΔDUB, as specified in Materials and methods. After 6 d of infection, each organotypic brain slice was sectioned into 10-µm slices and stained with anti–HSV1-2. ImageJ was used to reconstruct the stained viral puncta. n = 4 mice per group.
