PC12 cells stably transfected with recombinant hTPH2 synthesize serotonin and release it in response to depolarization. Cellular levels of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) (serotonin) were determined in WT hTPH2- and tyrosine for serine substitution at position 41 (S41Y)-transfected PC12 cells (following 48 h of doxycycline (DOX) induction) before and after potassium-induced depolarization.
