Differential protein expression between atria and ventricle reflect tissue specialization and reveals its molecular drivers. Volcano plot analysis of protein expression in atria versus ventricle in seven individuals depicts significance of differential expression for each protein (points). Mean fold-change of protein expression between atria and ventricle (left: higher in atria, right: higher in ventricle) is plotted against statistical significance of the differential expression (two-sided Student's t test p value). Proteins with high differential expression at high statistical significance populate the upper corners of the graph.
