While the non-productive mRNA is degraded by NMD, the productive mRNA is translated into protein. b Example of a cell treated with a TANGO ASO targeting the non-productive AS event (e.g. exon inclusion) and preventing the inclusion of the non-productive exon leading to an increase of the productive mRNA. The increased level of the productive mRNA results in increased protein production.
