The effect of 3‐fluoropyruvate (3FP; toxic pyruvate analog) on lrg promoter (PlrgA) activity and cell growth in wild‐type and ΔcodY strains. The PlrgA‐gfp reporter strains in wild‐type (a–d) and ΔcodY (E‐H) backgrounds were grown in low‐glucose (11 mM) FMC medium supplemented by 0 (a and e), 0.1 (b and f), 1 (c and g), or 10 mM (d and h) 3FP. Relative gfp expression (green line) and OD₆₀₀ (black line) were monitored on a plate reader (see Materials and Methods for details). The results are representative of two independent experiments
