Systemic activation of the Stimulator of Interferon Genes (STING) pathway upregulates pro-inflammatory gene expression in the lungs. The expression of Ifnb1, Il6, Tnf, Ifng, and the type I IFN responsive gene Mx1 in the lungs was significantly increased 4h after injection.
