In Mundinus Anatomia (1487) the terms “cerebri anterius” and “posterius” are used for the cerebrum and cerebellum, respectively. “When the membranes have been seen, the brain will appear larger in quantity in man than in any other animal of the same size, because he requires more animal spirit for the operation of his intellect. The brain has two parts, anterior and posterior, and the anterior part is divided into right and left; this division appears clearly in the substance of the brain and consequently in the ventricles.” Translation, [13]
