Figure 2

Effect of different P. gingivalis LPS preparations on gene expression of IL-6, IL-8, and MCP-1 in hPDLSCs. Primary hPDLSCs were stimulated with commercially available “standard” P. gingivalis LPS (1 μg/ml), “ultrapure” P. gingivalis LPS (1 μg/ml), and “ultrapure” E. coli LPS (1 μg/ml) in the presence (250 ng/ml) of sCD14 for 4 or 24 h. Gene expression levels of IL-6, IL-8, and MCP-1 were measured by qPCR. The y-axis represents the n-fold expression levels of the target gene in relation to unstimulated cells (n = 1). Data are presented as mean ± s.e.m. of five different donors. Significantly different vs. control; #significantly higher vs. “ultrapure” LPS preparations; significantly higher compared to 4 h of stimulation; significantly lower compared to 4 h of stimulation.
