Galleria mellonella infection model. The virulence of EC121 was assessed using an inoculum of 104 CFU per G. mellonella larvae. The larvae survival rate, expressed by Kaplan–Meier plots indicated that EC121 was more virulent than the negative control (saline) and the nonpathogenic K-12 derived E. coli C600, while there was no significant difference between the survival rates of EC121 and the ExPEC prototype strain CFT073. p- value: ** < 0.005; **** < 0.0001).
