Galleria mellonella infection model. The virulence of EC121 was assessed using an inoculum of 10⁴ CFU per G. mellonella larvae. The larvae survival rate, expressed by Kaplan–Meier plots indicated that EC121 was more virulent than the negative control (saline) and the nonpathogenic K-12 derived E. coli C600, while there was no significant difference between the survival rates of EC121 and the ExPEC prototype strain CFT073. p- value: ** < 0.005; **** < 0.0001).
